A ministry committed to serving the “least of these” is doing what it can to help those affected by the latest catastrophe in South Asia.
Since the first crisis, COVID-19, families have been huddling in makeshift homes in India, and now residents are recoiling after Cyclone Amphan rammed into coastal India and Bangladesh. K.P. Yohannan of Gospel for Asia says 400,000 people in Orissa state were evacuated overnight.
“This is just multitudes of people on the road and everywhere [trying to] find hope and escape,” he reports.
The government is doing what it can to meet the needs of victims and evacuees, and so is Gospel for Asia (GFA).
“Satan is doing the best he can, but God has a plan and purpose,” Yohannan asserts. “Our job is to be Christ in the midst of the suffering of the people.”
Because communication is down in some areas, the full extent of the damage is not yet known. What is known is that coastal regions were hit with winds of over 100 miles per hour as well as a deluge of rain, with water surges up to 16 feet.
While Gospel for Asia (GFA) is ministering to storm victims, the ministry is also trying to serve the needs of the people who are trying to return home.
