WILLS POINT, TX – When travel to church became painful for Mira, a prayer gathering in a home answered a tender need close to her door. Pastor Rogan had been praying for a church in her neighborhood, and Mira shared the same desire. Her house became a weekly place where neighbors could pray, fellowship, and seek God together.
Earnest prayers are never wasted, and God is using one faith-filled woman to reach her community.
Mira, an elderly woman, lives in a bustling city where people work hard and have little time to devote to life’s bigger questions: “Who am I?” and “Is there a God?” Since only a few Christians live in her neighborhood, Mira must travel to another community to attend church.
The commute to church was once manageable for Mira, but three years ago, she developed severe, chronic knee pain, which limited her mobility. Despite her pain, Mira still attends church as often as she can, with the assistance of her family members. After a GFA leader in the region, Pastor Rogan, noticed Mira’s struggle to regularly attend church, he began consistently praying for a church in her neighborhood. Pastor Rogan then shared with Mira his prayer for her neighborhood, and he was met with her same desire to offer her residence for times of prayer. It seemed as if the same Holy Spirit living inside of them was at work to achieve the same purpose.

Explore how a prayer gathering in a home can begin with one family and reach many more through the care of a GFA World national missionary. A local worker may visit, pray, and share God’s Word in words people know and trust, and soon neighbors may come with pain, fear, or honest questions. The home becomes a quiet place of hope, not a formal hall. These workers are not seen as strangers; they serve as neighbors among neighbors. Learn how prayer, care, and steady visits can help families see Christ’s love and bring hope to a wider community.
