Father Finds Courageous Faith Through His Family & GFA World Pastor

Oburu knew what was coming: condemnation, judgment and rejection from his friends. This is what he had feared most, and now it was his reality. But he no longer felt afraid—he had found new faith, and with it, new courage.

Unwelcome Witness

GFA World pastor Seiji served the Lord faithfully in this village, visiting residents & providing encouragement & prayer for those in need — Through God’s work in his wife and son, Oburu (not pictured) found the courage to put his faith in Jesus and share God’s love with others.

In a small village in South Asia lived about 200 families, most of whom were farmers and followed the traditional religious beliefs of their area. They were very superstitious, practiced witchcraft, and wore amulets to protect against evil spirits.

Gospel for Asia (GFA World) pastor Seiji served the Lord faithfully in this village, visiting residents and providing encouragement and prayer for those in need. Ashanti, a member of his church, requested his help for her troubled husband, Oburu.

Oburu did not approve of Ashanti’s faith in Jesus. He would often criticize her and make sarcastic remarks, making it difficult for them to live together peacefully. His drinking habit didn’t help the situation either. As a daily wage worker, Oburu earned very little, yet he often used all his money to support his bad habit, leaving the family in a strained financial state.

Ashanti’s heart was heavy for her husband. She knew Oburu’s life was devoid of peace and tried to share God’s Word with him, though Oburu refused to listen. Nevertheless, Ashanti continued to love her husband.
