The well was deep, and it was dangerous, but it was also the only permanent source of water within a two-mile walk for the people of Sandor’s village. Severe drought had made water scarce. Many villagers, in desperation, spent hard-earned money on water from an itinerant water tanker service. But numerous others, such as daily wage laborers, couldn’t afford the fee to buy water; it would consume more than a few days’ wages.
One day, Gospel for Asia (GFA) pastor Rodin passed through this small village and spoke to Sandor and his family. The message he shared about a man called Jesus intrigued them, and the pastor began visiting this family every week so they could learn more.
Pastor Rodin learned, too; he learned that the community urgently needed a bore well and that Sandor was willing to donate a piece of his own land so his family and neighbors could finally have free, clean water.
With a desire to help Sandor’s village, Pastor Rodin prayerfully submitted their need to regional church leaders. Within a few months, Sandor’s land was home to a new Jesus Well! The well was a great blessing to the entire community.
